The Man Behind the Walk

Matt Holm started Straight Off the Trail with a simple morning walk and an open invitation.

As an Austin real estate agent, he spent his days connecting people to homes, but noticed how many men, himself included, were missing something closer to home: real friendship, movement, and a place to just show up as themselves.

So he started walking Lady Bird Lake every morning and inviting others to join. A few became many. What began as one walk has grown into a brotherhood of more than 160 Austin men.

I just wanted a place where men could move, talk, and feel less alone. Turns out a lot of us needed the same thing.
